Heart Disease Risks Lowered by Five Lifestyle Modifications During Youth
by: John Phillip
This article explains how heart disease is becoming a major problem now a day and people are not educated as to why it happens. Researchers from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine wrote a journal called Circulation.
Scientist proved by eating healthy as child to the age of forty will reduce the chances of having a heart disease. By eating right, exercising regularly, not stressing out, reducing blood pressure and maintaining healthy body weight will lower the chances of having any type of heart disease. Heart disease may be inherited but by doing all of this it will reduce the chances. People often that bad genes are the reason they have heart problem, but over look their unhealthy life style.
I agree with this article completely because as much as you might get heart diseases through your genes the lifestyle you choose triggers the genes to come in play. If you eat junk food everyday the genes within it will trigger and cause a heart disease. Just like diabetes it’s the environmental factors that trigger you to start having diabetes. People should stop blaming their genes and start focusing on having a healthy lifestyle.
This will effect me as a professional in this field because if I were to go with my back up plan and become a doctor I would not have as many people dying in my hands because of the heart diseases they go diagnosed by. My grandfather was a healthy man, but because of his smoking habit the inherited heart disease gene trigger and had a major heart attack. If it weren’t for smoking he would not have had a heart attack.
Making more people realize that it’s not always about their genes, but the life style they choose can prove this idea. People need to be educated more.

Vitamin D Helps Prevent Lung Cancer
By: Aurora Geib
Lung cancer is the third most dangerous cancer that causes fatality in first world countries. Due to the fact that cancer attacks people that live away from the equator due to the lack of vitamin D. Scientist have found the link between smoking, lung cancer and the decreased exposure to UVB. Vitamin D prevents chronic disease spectrum and improves bone health. Scientists have been debating whether vitamin D is the cure to cancer. British Journal of Cancer in 2001 stated fish and cod liver oil has been proven to reduce cancer, and those contain vitamin D. It has not been officially proven, but scientists are striving to prove that with the presence of Vitamin D there will be a reduction of lung cancer.
I do not agree with this article completely, but I do agree to a certain degree. I have read in plenty of articles that fish oil helps reduce cancer, wrinkles and makes your hair healthier. On the other hand I do not agree that because of living away from the equator people get lung cancer. Most lung cancer patients were diagnosed with the disease because of their unhealthy lifestyle. Vitamin D might be the cure to cancer, but I won’t believe it until it is proven.
This affects me as a citizen because I live away from the equator. If in case it is proven that living away from the equator plays a major role in cancer it will affect me because I live in Canada. Canada is one the furthest countries from the equator. Also now a day, due to global warming skin cancer has become common. If Vitamin D is the cure it might help me in the future.
This idea can be proven by testing out medication that have vitamin D as the main ingredient. Through this you will find out whether this hypothesis is correct and from there they can improve this idea further if it get proven. From there you can make lotion that contain vitamin D. In this situation people do not need the sun for vitamin D and this will reduce the chances of skin cancer because less sun exposure.
