Dear Miss Tran,
I honestly believe I am leaving grade eleven biology with a lot of new knowledge. This course has taught me so much about life of us and the organisms the live by us and in us. This course was very interesting because most the materials were hands on. From genetics I was taught how to apply simple pedigree to a real life situation. From evolution I was able to understand why we were able to survive from our ancestors and why other organisms were not lucky enough to be alive today. All the organisms on this planet are related through a common ancestor. From internal system I was able to learn the function of our systems in depth. Each system is equally important to us because they all work together to keep us alive everyday. Due to the fact I want to pursue a career in the science field this course really gave me a clear idea of what the careers will specialize in. If I were to become a doctor I know that you need to study each system even if you want specialize in a certain system because all the systems work together. If I want to become a forensic scientist you will need to be able to classify chromosomes through karyotyping.
I enjoyed my experience in biology. I expected to just memorize everything and write the test and pass, but after learning each topic in depth it caught my attention. I think I learn more than I expected to learn. You did an amazing job in teaching everything in depth, but at the same time made sense. I believe evolution was the hardest unit, due to the fact that it involved a lot of thinking and theory.
This course has taught me that marks are not everything. Marks will determine how well you did in the course but the knowledge you get out the course is priceless. I might not remember the marks in the future, but I learned in class will always be with me through out life. I was able to make a connection between the units were learned to real life experience. I did follow my strategies. The times when I did not follow the strategies I did poorly on the assessments. I learned that I needed to also work on time management. At times I was not able to meet my requirements with quality. You can improve this course by adding more hands on activities rather than assessments because it allows the students to learn more efficiently. Overall I had an amazing time and learned a lot. Thank you for teaching a lot of new things.
Sincerely,
Sankavi Muralitharan ^-^
